Or if you really want to make your yard more natural and zen-like, you could build a fountain or even a zen garden.

- Choose decorations that are relevant to you. Don't fake it with objects that don't express you.
- Choose good quality decorations. A few carefully placed elegant stone, metal, or clay decorations will look much better than several dozen plastic pink flamingos. Placing a lone garden gnome in the middle of your giant lawn will look strange, and will only hinder lawn moving and playing outside. Besides, putting your decorations closer to sidewalks and your house will make them more noticeable to your admiring passerby.

- Practice moderation. While an undecorated garden shows you're no fun, an overcrowded one will show you're crazy!
- If your yard still looks empty and barren even with some decorations, you may want to consider growing some hedges, bushes, or large flowering plants to add some more color and life.

- You may make the rest of your neighborhood look like a slum compared to your artistic, expressive dwelling!
- Don't clump all of your lawn decorations in one small area, unless that small area is all you have to decorate. It will just look strange.
