Steps

  1. Note that, if you have Hotmail, Yahoo, or any other web-based E-mail client, any browser that has not specifically blocked those services, can access, read, and compose e-mail in your web browser.
  2. Understand that, if you happen to use Microsoft Outlook, Eudora, Thunderbird, or client-based program, in most cases you still can access your email, just keep your login name, password, and SMTP/POP3 server addresses handy. Be sure to delete your account information once you're done, otherwise you are leaving access open for anyone to read your mail.
  3. Keep in mind, if either solution doesn't apply, perhaps you have AOL, or another Internet Service Provider-based E-mail client. Verizon, Comcast, Earthlink, Qwest, and other larger ISP companies offer web-based solutions to check their email. Try checking out their main site, and looking for a link to their e-mail center.
  4. Remember: the absolute easiest way to check a POP3 account (any account you use Outlook to access) is to use a mail to web website, such as http://mail2web.com.

Tips

  • On a different computer don't click the 'remember my password' button, because then anyone could get access to your e-mail!
  • Always ask before installing any programs or attachments on someone else's computer.
  • If available, use the option 'This is not a private computer' or 'This is a public computer' when logging in. This will set the cookie expiration time to end of the session, meaning as soon as the browser window is closed, you will have been logged out.
