Steps
- Choose iPod management software from one of the following:[1]
- Floola (proprietary)
- Songbird (cross platform, Windows, Mac OS, Linux)
- AmaroK [2] (KDE)
- gtkpod
- gPodder
- Rhythmbox (GNOME)
- Yamipod (cross platform, Windows, Mac OS, Linux)
- Banshee
- Plug in your iPod. It should appear in storage devices, so Mount your iPod.
- Run your iPod management software and configure it to detect your iPod (you may have to enter your model e.g. Classic 4th generation, Nano 3rd generation, Shuffle 2nd generation etc).
- Click the "Connect" button.
- Load your files (and folders) into a playlist on your software and click transfer.
- Once transferred, safely remove your iPod and Unmount it.
- The screen will display OK to Disconnect when it is okay to disconnect.
Tips
- If you really want to run iTunes, you can try it in WINE.
Warnings
- If you don't unmount properly you could lose data.
