Steps

  1. Get plenty of sleep. You need 8 hours per night if you're an adult. While you sleep your body repairs itself. If you are one of those people that don't sleep well, buy a some nice pillows and PJ's. Take the TV out of your room. Your bedroom should be a relaxing environment.
  2. Eat properly. Lots of fruits and veggies, and try organic. Wash your produce for at least 5 minutes. This will rid of excess chemicals. Eat 5 smaller meals, instead of 3 large meals. Take in less sugar, caffeine, and make sure your fat intake is mono-saturated. Stick to whole grains. Try quinoa!
  3. Exercise. No time? Park your car far away from the store and get a good walk in. If you have the means join a gym or buy some free weights. Use them. Get a partner to work out with!
  4. Wash your hands, and don't touch your mouth, lips, eyes or nose. Avoid products that are encouraging you to use a pump or spray to disinfect your hands, washing with warm soap and water is best.
  5. Laugh and enjoy life. Your immune system works best when you are happy. Limit your intake of stress. Avoid stressful people and take time for yourself.

Tips

  • If you are sick: go to a Naturalist. See what kind of herbs and remedies they offer, they are usually a lot cheaper. They will clue you in on foods you should avoid and foods that will foster healing for your condition. Example: If you have a chest cold or stuffy sinuses, you may want to avoid dairy, which thickens mucus. Negotiate lower prices. Let them know your financial situation.
  • Try acupuncture. This ancient art has healed millions over thousands of years. It's sometimes not as expensive as a conventional doctor.
  • Go to a health food store and ask what kind of tinctures and natural remedies are good for certain conditions.
  • Even if you decide to look for insurance, whether it's long term health insurance or short term, make sure it's what you truly need, includes the right coverage and doesn't cost more than you need

Warnings

  • Watch out for internet articles that offer "quick at home fixes". Do your homework and cross reference articles.
  • If you do need medical attention and your condition is serious don't avoid a doctor. Let the physician know you don't have insurance and offer a discount on their service, think of it like buying a car, negotiate!
  • You can pay your doctor or hospital monthly don't let them brow beat you into paying all at once.
  • Shop around, go to a few different doctor's see who will give you the best care at the cheapest price.
