Steps
- Downgrade your firmware to version 1.1.1. To do this you need to download the firmware at "http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/iPhone/061-3883.20070927.In76t/iPhone1,1_1.1.1_3A109a_Restore.ipsw"
- Next, hold down the "Power" button and the "Home" button for 10 seconds, then release the "Power" button and hold the "Home" button for 10 more seconds.
- Connect your iPhone to Itunes.
- Itunes should say it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. Then click on the "Restore" button while holding the shift key.
- A window should pop up. Then, find the 1.1.1 firmware you downloaded earlier and select it.
- Wait while it updates.
- Then, on your iPhone, go to "Safari" internet browser, go to www.jailbreakme.com
- Go all the way down to the bottom and click on "Install AppSnapp"
- Wait until it is done.
- Then you need to download "Ibrickr". You can find it at "http://cre.ations.net/blog/post/iphone-113-jailbreak-released"
- Then, open it with WinZip and "Extract" the file called "Ibrickr"
- Next, click on the extracted file.
- Follow all the instructions.
- Congratulations! You have now jail broken your iPhone!
Tips
- Don't let the above steps intimidate you. This method is much harder and rarely used today. Just install ZiPhone ([www.ziphone.org]) and let it do all of the work for you.
- Beware that you will need to "jailbreak" your iphone to download 3rd party applications. Be sure to 3G iPhone unlocking properly.
