Steps
- Clean up your house to make it unfriendly to carpenter ants. do this by cleaning floors up really good, fix any leaky faucets that fuel rotting wood, and remove any clutter that creates shelter for them.
- Get a pesticide called Timbor. this is a very safe product to use. the only hazard is indigestion so keep it away from kids and pets.
- Call a professional exterminator to mix the timbor and some foam to put the foam in your walls to remove the ants.
- Alternate 1 - Use advance carpenter ant bait. This has been a proven ant bait that kills the nest and lasts all year long.
- The best solution is to find the colony and destroy it by using a residue, crack, or crevice aerosol like crack and crevice II propoxur aerosol sprayed directly into the nest or use a dust such as deltadust with a bellows 8oz duster.
- Alternate 2 - Use a bait thats designed so they cant detect it.
Tips
- Use pesticides that are undetectable to these ants.
- Get a stethoscope and listen to the wall you think the nest is in. You will hear a scrabbling sound that sound like a rustling or tapping sound.
- Simply spraying the outside of your house won't get rid of them.
- Use stealthy poisons because these ants can sense most poisons. Don't kill ants by stomping on them. For every and you kill the queen makes 10 more!
Warnings
- Keep poisons away from children and pets!
