Steps
- Start by opening your CD drive, and placing the disk in the holder. Do not shut the drive yet; you have to do a few things first.
- Go into Windows Media Player, and click the rip tab. Select your options and then just click anywhere to get out of the menu.
- Push the EDrive in, and wait. You can listen to your CD's as you rip them by going to the play menu, and clicking play.
- Repeat these steps for every CD you want to rip.
- Insert a blank audio CD into the EDrive after you have finished ripping. Don't insert a data CD because these don't work in most stereos and CD players. Do not push in the drive yet.
- Go to your documents and go into your music. Click the files that you want to be burned onto the CD, with the right mouse button, and select add to burn list. (or something similar to that.)
- Go back to Windows Media Player. You should see your list of songs. If you are satisfied, click the burn tab, and slide the drive in.
- Wait; burning takes a while.
- Try your new CD out in a radio. Make sure that it works.
Tips
- This works best on Windows XP or Windows Vista
- If you are completely new to this, and you didn't understand the gobbledygook, "Rip," is when you copy tracks from a CD, and the computer turns them into media files; "Burn," means copying the media file and transferring the copies onto a blank CD; an EDrive is a CD drive or a CD-ROM drive.
- If you don't want certain songs, you can put a check mark by them in the list before ripping. If you change your mind while a song is playing, you can still check the box. Partially ripped files won't be saved.
- Make sure that your blank CD is free of scratches, dust, or fingerprints before you burn it.
- See your player's Help menu for extra help. This article was written for recent versions of Windows Media Player.
- If you have pre-existing files, (Like ones downloaded,) you can also burn those. You do not need to rip a song to burn it.
- Always try out your CD after you're done.
- When in doubt, check the Help venue.
- File Quality is better when you are also connected to the internet while ripping. Just open your browser, minimize, and continue ripping.
Warnings
- To get the best quality, close all applications except for WMP, and the internet. The help menu recommends that you close all unnecessary applications.
- Make sure that no small children can get to the computer.
