Steps
- Start by flipping through magazines and catalogs you have around the house. When you find a tear-out postcard rip it out and save it.
- Keep your cards together. Sort them by size, the magazine they're from, ect.
- Check to see if magazines in a waiting room contain any business reply mail cards. The library would also be a source of magazines containing these.
- Ask if you can see family members' magazines. When someone in your family gets a magazine, ask to see it before they tear out the postcards. If you see that someone is about to throw one away ask if you can have it.
- Collect cards from many sources or concentrate on getting many from one source. Make sure the design of your cards is varied.
Tips
- Be carefully not to rip the postcards when you're tearing them out of magazines. Sometimes it might be more effective to cut them out instead.
- Sometimes you'll find cards with defects. These are great to have in your collection.
- Go to the library and see if they have American Girl books. These usually have cards for ordering catalogs in the back.
Warnings
- When you're going through a library or waiting room magazine make sure you're allowed to tear things out.
- If you leave your collection laying around someone might think it's garbage and throw it away.
